SCHOOL STRUCTURE
Lucas Heights Community School is divided into three schools:

Junior School - K- 4

Middle School - 5 - 8

Senior School - 9 - 12

Each school is symbolised by its own variation of the school uniform and formal ceremonies, but the traditional structure of a secondary school (7 - 12) and primary (K - 6) is preserved. This means that while Years 5 and 6 are part of the middle school, they also attend lessons in the primary section of the school with their own class teacher. Similarly, Years 7 and 8 are also part of the middle school but follow a curriculum and organisational structure typical of a high school setting.

SCHOOL UNIFORM
It is the responsibility of each student at Lucas Heights Community School to wear their full school uniform. The table below sets out the required uniform for each student.

Students wear the school uniform with pride and the uniform code is rigorously enforced. All shirts, blouses, jumpers, jackets and sloppy joes must carry the school crest. Iron on logos are available at the uniform shop for suitable items that do not already carry the logo.

UNIFORM SHOP
Our LHCS Uniform Shop is run by the P & C and all of those who work in it are volunteers. ALL monies raised go to the school and our students.

• We sell a range of new uniform items plus good quality 2nd hand items. ALL prices are very competitive.
• Regular shop hours are:
  Tuesday 8.15 am - 9.15 am
  Wednesday 8.45 am - 9.15 am
  Friday 2.45 pm - 3.15 pm
  In addition to these hours we are also open during other school events such as Parent /Teacher evenings, subject selection evenings, Kinder and Year 7 Orientation Days, Primary Cross Country Carnivals, etc. Check the school Calendar for these dates.
• We are happy to accept donations of good quality 2nd hand uniform items. They may be brought to the shop during regular opening hours or left at the Administration Office.
• We accept cash, cheque and credit cards. Cheques should be made payable to LHCS P & C. Debit cards can be used via the Office for payments.
• If you are unable to get to the shop but know exactly what size item you require an order can be left with payment at the Administration Office. Items will be delivered to students at school.

ALL prices quoted are from the starting price, as there maybe more than one style available ... prices correct at 1/4/09 and are subject to change. Remember that all proceeds from the items sold in our shop go DIRECTLY into providing funds for school improvements and equipment.

OUR SISTER SCHOOL [Ono Senior High]

Ono Senior High School is the Japanese sister school of Lucas Heights Community School. As it is a Senior High School there are only students in Years 10, 11 and 12 but there are about 1200 students in the school!!!

Ono is a small city situated in Hyogo Prefecture between the larger cities of Himeji and Kobe. It is a selective school for the area and is very proud of it’s reputation. Every year a number of students from Ono will enter Tokyo University which is one of the most prestigious Universities in Japan.

The school has modern and traditional facilities to suit the diverse curriculum and extra-curricular activities available in the school. For example, there are a number of computer rooms, there is a pool, a room with tatami mats to practise Judo and another traditional style room for students learning the Tea Ceremony.

Thanks to the support of some wonderful Lucas Heights families we have been able to continue this program for approximately 10 years. Our schools have exchanged students to give them a unique experience in another country. Visiting famous places such as Kyoto and Himeji, going to school and living with a family in another country is something our students will never forget. Likewise there are a number of Ono students that will never forget the two weeks they spent at Lucas Heights Community School.
